Sentences consist of words and words consist of letters. Finnish language is a phonetic language so words are pronounced as they are written. Letters are pronounced in the same way no matter where in the word they are located. There are exceptions for this rule, but for now they are not worth worrying about.
When you master the Finnish alphabet, speaking the language becomes much easier. While learning the alphabet it’s good to take into account your own native language. For example if your native language is Arabic then ”P”, ”Y” and ”Ö” might be a bit challenging for you because they don’t exist in Arabic. I use Arabic as an example because it's familiar language to me and also it uses different alphabet than Finnish.
Learn the alphabet well and you’ll be able to read out loud any Finnish text. This will open for you great opportunities to become even better Finnish speaker.

A is the most common letter in the Finnish language. It’s pronounced in the same way as in the English word ”Always”. It’s funny to notice that in English the same letters inside a one word can be pronounced differently. Luckily Finnish language is phonetic so A is always pronounced as A.

C niin kuin curling
Almost all words starting with C are borrowed from English language. A lot of these words have an official Finnish equivalent but in many cases the loan word from English is used more. For example the word CV is more used than the word ”ansioluettelo”.
Some of the words starting with C might be unknown to you, so I’ll explain them both in Finnish and in English.

J is quite a new letter. People started using it as late as in the 16th century. Until then only the letter I was used. K niin kuin kesä
In Finnish language K has been a conqueror that slowly replaced other similar consonants. First is replaced Q then C and finally X. For this reason those three letters are rarely seen in Finnish language whereas K is a very common consonant. Cake is in Finnish ”Kakku” without C and Taxi is ”Taksi” without the letter X.
K is a very common double consonant so it is recommended to learn to pronounce it correctly. Here are few Finnish names and words that include double K: Pekka, Jukka, Pakka, Tukka, Rekka, Lakka… there are plenty of these.

In many languages there is a certain type of way in which last names end. In Russia it is ”ov” or ”ova”. In Poland it’s ”ski”. In Sweden it’s ”ström” and in Greek it’s ”os” or "ou". In Finland last names usually end with ”nen”. For example Finlands most common last names are ”Korhonen” and ”Virtanen”. The ”-nen” suffix has two N letters which makes mastering this letter quite important.
According to Finlands most well known comedian Ismo Leikola "no niin" is the most important word in Finnish language and it includes three N letters.

O is also the first letter for the most important Finnish verb ”olla”.

Å meaning Swedish O is really rare letter in Finnish language. The Swedish O (Å) is pronounced in the same way as regular ”O” letter. Even though Å is included in the Finnish alphabet, it doesn’t appear anymore in Finnish words.
There are no Finnish words that start with ”Å”. For this reason I chose to put here a picture of Ahvenanmaa which in Swedish is called ”Åland”. Ahvenanmaa is a region in Finland that has autonomy and its official language is Swedish.
