It comes from the Swedish word \u201dfem\u201d which is five in Swedish. Usually when talking about \u201dfemma\u201d it means money. However this isn\u2019t always the case, for example: \u201dyl\u00e4femma\u201d means high five.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>S\u00e4 oot mulle femman velkaa \/ You owe me five (euros)<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><strong>7<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>The purpose of spoken language is to make speaking faster and effortless. \u201dSeittem\u00e4n\u201d is requires less effort than \u201dseitsem\u00e4n\u201d. \u201dSeiska\u201d is another way in spoken language to say seven. For many Finnish people \u201dSeiska\u201d is familiar as the name for the most well known tabloid magazine in Finland.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Luetko Seiskaa? \/ Do you read the \u201dSeiska\u201d magazine?<\/p>\n<p>M\u00e4 oon seiskaluokalla \/ I am on the 7th grade<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>M\u00e4 sain kokeesta seiskan \/ I got 7 as a grade from the exam<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><strong>8 ja 9<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Often in spoken language \u201dd\u201d is left out. It is so also with \u201dkahdeksan\u201d and \u201dyhdeks\u00e4n\u201d. They become \u201dkaheksan\u201d and \u201dyheks\u00e4n\u201d. Alla muutama esimerkki:<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Kympintytt\u00f6 \u2013 Girl of ten: a girl who is good in school (gets good grades like tens)<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Naisten Kymppi \u2013 Womens ten: the biggest jogging\/walking event for women in Finland<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>JVG has a song called \u201dTeemu ja Jari\u201d in which they rap about two very popular athletes Teemu Sel\u00e4nne and Jari Litmanen. Teemu\u2019s number is 8 \u201dkasi\u201d and Jari\u2019s number is 10 \u201dkymppi\u201d. In songs chorus go like this \u201dKyl s\u00e4 tii\u00e4t, kymppi ja kasi\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=EnbjR635kfc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">Listen to \"Teemu ja Jari\"<\/a><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>There is a children\u2019s program called \u201dKymppi kaksi\u201d (10 + 2). The intro song for the program is good way to remember numbers \u201dkymppi\u201d and \u201dkaks\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/2EKsHZCfP8A\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">Listen to 10+2 intro<\/a><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><strong>The fast way to count to ten<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Probably the fastest way to count to ten is in spoken Finnish. It can be done in the following way:<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Yy, kaa, koo, nee, vii, kuu, see, kasi, ysi, kymppi<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/Y8ec6g8EiNQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Watch a video where I count to ten very fast in spoken Finnish<\/a><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>The numbers from 1 to 7 presented here can not be used in to replace the numbers in written language. They are only used when counting upwards. This kind of counting can usually be heard when somebody wants to count as quickly as possible the number of certain things. The number of people for example.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><strong>20, 25, 30, 37, 40\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>With the tens digits in spoken language the word \u201dkymment\u00e4\u201d is replaced with \u201dkyt\u201d. In written language \u201dtonni\u201d is the unit of mass and means thousand kilograms.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ordinal numbers<\/h2>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Ordinal numbers are useful. They are used for telling the order of things. Ordinal numbers can also indicate how many times a certain event has occurred? The answer for this could be for example \"first time\" or \"second time\".
